Round 9 - Saturday 16th June
Both teams went out prepared for a hard game this week after our last game against Erina resulted in a draw. The game delivered the intensity you’d expect from a top of the table clash.
Solid defence from both teams saw the score kept low but consistent pressure and accurate kicks saw us edge in with a 2 point win against the previously undefeated Erina team.
Man of the Match this week goes to Caige Pettit-Ingram for for his direction in attack and outstanding defensive work. Players’ Player was Taj Eggleton for his aggressive running style, gaining us a lot of metres and a solo try
Round 8 - Saturday 2nd June
Another close win this week, this time over Kincumber with a final score of 36-26.
A strong running game from our forwards got us out to an early lead and great support play saw us put 36 points on. Defensive structure was lacking today and frustration saw several penalties given away which Kincumber were quick to turn into tries.
Man of the Match this week went to Ajay Hansen for his consistent tenacity out of dummy half, providing lots of forward momentum. Players’ Player goes to Tennesyn Higgins for his quality attacking running with several line breaks and long range tries.
Round 7 - Saturday 26th May
A very hard, close game today with several key players missing from the line up against a much improved Budgewoi team.
Budgewoi's aggressive ball running proved hard to contain in the first half resulting in two unanswered tries. After strengthening our defensive structure, our team was able to lock Budgie inside their 20 for the majority of the rest of the game and persistent pressure in attack saw us close the gap and pull in front with for a final score of 16-10.
Special mention to our Man of The Match, Jack Tosic for great positional play at full back and Players' Player, Ryelie Fletcher for a very solid defensive game.
Northern Lakes 48 - Woy Woy 4
What a bounce back this week turned out to be.
Coming off a bye and a big loss to Erina two weeks ago we knew we were going to need a very committed and defensive unit to turn up. Training the last two weeks has seen a huge shift in commitment and attitude from this group of players.
Turn up they did. Whilst it is great to score points, it is even better when defensively you are a combined unit and your efforts keep your opponent to only 1 try.
Leading at half time 18-4 we knew we weren’t out of the woods. We spoke a lot about not letting any more tries in, and that we needed to be putting more pressure on Woy Woy if we wanted to roll them.
In the Second half the boys came out ready to go. The boys knew they had to stay composed and not get ahead of themselves if we were to earn the 2 points. This was led by our captain Ty and our vice captain Jett.
I couldn’t have been more happier with what happened next.
With our forwards hitting it up hard, 2 or more in a tackle, sublime attacking backline movements we steamrolled Woy Woy 30-0 in the second half.
Tries this week went to a mix of backs and forwards from set plays and hard line running. Jett 2, Leon 2, Callan 2, Chris 1, Jonah 1, Kurtis 1, Luke 1, with Ty converting 3 and Jett converting 1.
This weeks Man of the Match was very difficult to pick however it went to Callan for not only bagging 2 tries but a very solid defensive effort.
A big thanks to Kaleb, Marcus and Ajay from the 12/3s for backing us up also.
Next week we face a new test against Terrigal.
Round 6 - Saturday 19th May
Man of the Match this week goes to Taj Eggleton for his defensive work, saving numerous tries. Players' Player goes to Jackson C
Round 5 - Saturday 12th May
Under 9 Gold
Another great team performance by Under 9 Gold vs Wyong Roos.
It was great to see the Warriors consistantly moving up in defence and getting 3 or 4 in the tackle to shut down the Wyong attack. The team held the Roos for a full set of six tackles on 4 or 5 occasions which shows the effort everyone is making in defence.
Chace and Blade were tireless in defence moving up and putting pressure on the opposition. Cooper B was great from marker getting his body in front and tackling some of Wyongs much bigger boys. Deizel and Cooper M were everywhere in defence chasing down and tackling players all over the field.
Brooke was fantastic in attack using her strength and speed to run in 5 tries and leave many Roos in her dust.
Tate, Jazper and Reef all made some incisive runs using there footwork and speed to our advantage.
Josh made some great runs from dummy half in the second half getting the team rolling forward when the teams started to get tired.
Thanks to Fletch for enthusiastically leading the team song at fulltime. Its great to see the effort everyone has been making at training with Jack paying off on game day. We can all see there confidence growing every week.
A great win today over Warnervale due to a solid whole team effort. An early first try from Warnervale prompted a fiery response
and saw us go on the attack, scoring back to back and placing us on the front foot for the remainder of the game.
As a result, we were able to secure a convincing 20 point margin.
Special mention to today's Man of the Match, Tennesyn Higgins for great attack with huge run metres over the course of the game
and Players' Player, Dylan Jaques for a brilliant defensive game with several try saving tackles.
Today's win sees us undefeated after having played every other team in the competition. Congratulations to the whole team on the
great result and the calibre of play through the start of the season.
Erina 48 Northern Lakes 14.
This week was challenging for the team with only 10 players able to take the field. This was always going to be a huge ask.
At half time we led 14-12 and confidence was high. However and injury early in the second half saw us drop to 9 players, Erina clicked to the low numbers and targeted our edges.
Our Warriors never gave up and dug in as much as they could and all came off absolutely buggered. Tries this week went to Toby, Ty and Kurtis. With Ty kicking our only conversion.
Man of the match went to Brayden P, for his outstanding defence. He threw all he had at every tackle regardless of the score line, well done.
Next week have a bye, this will allow us to get some players fit, and prepare for a big game in round 7.
Under 9 Gold
Blade and Deizel led the way with some impresssive hard straight running. Deizel was also able to get some offloads away with Reef being rewarded for his fantastic support play with a couple of tries.
The Coopers (X2) defended well applying pressure from marker and forcing errors from the Hawks.
Josh and Chace were enthusiastic in defence consistently moving up in the line and contributing in tackles.
Man of the Match: Josh Coaches Award: Blade
A strong first half saw us go to half time narrowly in front however Erina fought back hard and managed to bring the game to 16-16. Brilliant defensive work from our team held Erina out for the final portion of the game in spite of minimal possession and multiple repeat sets on our line, ending the game in a draw.
This result was off the back of a great effort from all members of the team but a special mention is deserved for our Players' Player, Kayde and our Man of The Match, Kaleb.
Under 13 - 3s
Well finally common sense prevailed from division and this week saw the start of a division 3 competition for the Under 13s.
And what a performance from our Warriors.
We worked really hard on our defence during the week and concentrated hard on backing up our mates and getting in two or three in a tackle.
It was a very strong performance defensively which resulted in us having a lot of ball. Our attack was sublime and structured, something our halves have been working really hard on.
It was great to see the effort and commitment from all involved, but was fantastic to see our forwards showing some real dominance in their go forward and offloading ability.
Tries this week went to, Callan, Jett, Toby, Ty and Leon bagged a double.
Our Man of the Match this week went to our halfback Ty. He was dominate in both attack and defence and moved the ball around with precision. Well deserved.
Final score was 28-4 over Umina Bunnies.
Well done boys, bring on next week.
