Match Reports - Round 3

Under 8 Gold

It was another strong game and effort from the boys against The Entrance.
MOM Zack had a great game in attack and defence, and crossed for 3 tries and kicked a goal.
Coaches award this week went to Cj who is continuing to put in plenty of effort each week in defence with some great tackles and also scored his first try if the season.
Nathan again directed the team well at first receiver and Hudson also put in plenty of effort all game.
The whole team made some great tackles and stops in defence through the game which was pleasing to see.

Cheers
Troy

Our team was short 3 players which resulted in us having no subs and 1 Player short on the field however it was not noticeable as they supported each other well tackling in groups of 2 or more to slow Berkeley Vale down.
Sonny had some charging runs which he gained 3 try’s and converted one.
Tate’s speed was successful in scoring him a try. Josh’s confidence in running the ball straight and hard seen him also score a try today whilst Cooper B was within millimeters of scoring.
The defensive efforts by everyone was excellent with good tackling technique and scrambling defence from Jacob, Lachlan, Nash especially playing while in recovery and Oran with him leading the defensive line forward.
Lincoln’s kicking game was instrumental in making meters through the last tackle kick option.
Blade did a great job captaining the team today his efforts in both defence and attack lead to him to scoring a try and receiving today’s Match Player Award.

Following from the 70 and 50 point wins of the past two rounds, the boys were a little over confident heading in to this round and were taken a little by surprise by the Umina/Woy Woy JV team.

The structure was a little rusty in this game after the two week break but hard work from the forwards still managed to notch up three back to back tries early in the game. It looked to be heading towards another huge margin when poor ball security saw them turn over possession several times and resulted in the Umina/Woy Woy JV team hitting back hard late in the first half, running in three tries of their own.

With a narrow 2 point lead going in to the second half, the boys returned to the form we have come to expect, crossing the line another six times.

Proactive defence in the second half saw the Northern Lakes’ middle contain the strong attacking runners from Umina/Woy Woy who had given some grief in the first half and limit their ability to create second phase play, keeping them scoreless in the second half.

Players’ Player: Lucas Sant, for his consistency, outstanding efforts in attack and brilliant defensive play.

Coach and Managers’ award: Marcus Hurford, for high quality defence, especially out of marker and support play contributing to several tries.

Final score:
Northern Lakes 46 def Umina/Woy Woy JV 14.

Northern Lakes 18 Vs Erina O

Great hit out by the boys this week in the Grand Final rematch from last year.
A strong defensive display from our mighty Warriors saw us keep Erina to 0.
We opened the scoring half way through the first half with a nice kick, chase on the last which saw Callan score under the posts.
At half time leading only 6 - 0 we needed to step up our attacking plays and make sure the great defensive work continued.
Tries in the second half to Kurtis from dummy half close to our line and a rampaging Dylan topped off by three conversions to Leon saw us bag another win.
Man of the match went to Dylan for a strong running and defensive display from the big fella which had has on the front foot the whole game.
Water boy award this week went to Cameron for a great attacking display topped off by some solid defensive work.
Well done boys, keep up the solid work.

Luke.
